Seattle Colleges' 43rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration

ARE WE THERE YET?

Seattle Colleges host 43rd Community Celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. takes place at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Friday, January 15, 2016.

In his final speech, I’ve Been to the Mountaintop, Martin Luther King Jr. said, “I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land.”

What we want to know is, “Are we there yet?”

You can see the event, an exploration celebrating Dr. King’s journey to the mountaintop, featuring emcee Monique Ming Laven, speakers Jill Wakefield, Seattle Colleges Chancellor, students from John Stanford International School, Governor Jay Inslee, King County Executive Dow Constantine, Mayor Ed Murray and the Executive Director of the South Seattle Emerald, Marcus Green.

The event was held at Mount Zion Baptist Church where attendees were welcomed by Rev. Aaron Williams and the music of DaNell Daymon and Greater Works.
